Effective 4 September 2026 · Version 2.0. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can require of us. It is written to be read.

1. Who this covers

This policy applies to everyone who uses Hookup Emporium, wherever you are. Specific regimes give you additional rights, and we honour them regardless of where you live:

• California (CCPA/CPRA) — the rights in section 6, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information.
• EU and UK (GDPR) — the rights in section 6 plus the legal bases in section 4. Sexual orientation is a special category under Article 9 and is processed only on your explicit consent.
• Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas — the rights granted by each state's consumer privacy statute.

2. What we collect

• Account information — email address, display name, and date of birth. Date of birth is required to enforce the 18+ rule.
• Profile content — headline, bio, tags, desires, and up to four public photos, plus any private album photos you add.
• Sexual orientation and preference data — only where you choose to publish a Host profile. Treated as sensitive; see section 3.
• Approximate location — city and region, taken from what you enter at registration or derived from your IP address.
• Messages and media — the content of your conversations, retained for safety, abuse prevention, and legal compliance.
• Device and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, session logs, and which features you use.
• Payment data — subscription status, transaction history, and Spark and Boost balances. Card numbers never reach our servers.
• Age verification data — only if you choose to verify. See section 5.

We do not collect precise geolocation. The app requests no location permission on any platform. Stored coordinates are snapped to a grid before they are written, and only a bucketed distance is ever shown to another person.

3. Sensitive data

Sexual orientation, gender identity, and preference data are sensitive personal information and are handled accordingly:

• Collected only where you volunteer it, and used only for discovery and personalisation.
• Never sold, under any circumstances, and never shared with third parties for advertising, profiling, or commercial targeting.
• Deletable on request from your active profile within 30 days, subject to any legal hold.

4. Why we are allowed to process it

5. Age verification data

Verification is performed by a qualified third-party provider under a contract that forbids using your documents for anything else. Where you verify and the check succeeds, document images are purged within 30 days; we keep only the fact of verification, its date, and the provider's reference.

6. Your rights

• Access — confirmation of what we hold, and a copy of it. Available immediately from your account as a full data export.
• Correction — fix anything inaccurate.
• Deletion — delete your account and everything attached to it, from Account. Subject only to legal holds and safety records we are required to keep.
• Partial deletion — remove individual photos, conversations, saved profiles, trusted contacts, blocks, and sessions without closing your account.
• Portability — your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Opt out of analytics — analytics is off by default and stays off unless you consent.

Write to support@hookupemporium.com to exercise any of these. We respond within 45 days of verifying the request.

7. Who we share it with

• Service providers — hosting, payment processing, email and SMS delivery, content moderation, and IP-to-city lookup. Each processes only on our instructions, under contract.
• Law enforcement — on valid legal process such as a warrant, court order, or subpoena, and where a mandatory reporting obligation applies.
• NCMEC — we are required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A to report apparent child sexual abuse material to the CyberTipline. See our Child Safety Standards.
• Nobody else. We do not sell personal information, and we never sell or share sensitive data for advertising.

8. If there is a breach

Where a breach involves personal information we notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, where the law requires. Affected users are told promptly and plainly: what happened, what data was involved, what it likely means for you, and what we are doing about it.

Hookup Emporium is operated from Bothell, Washington, United States, and your personal information is processed there and in our cloud providers' United States regions. If you are writing from the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose law restricts international transfers, say so in your message and we will handle the request under that regime.
